Most Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of becoming a member?
The Village is dedicated to aging in place, independence, and creating a sense of community. Benefits include services such as door to door transportation; educational, cultural and social programs; member recommended referrals; intergenerational connections; volunteer opportunities; and members generated affinity activities.
Do I have to live on the Peninsula to be a member?
No. The important thing is that members live close enough to provide and receive services, and participate in activities if they choose.
I’m in good health, why should I become a member now?
The Village is a community. It provides volunteer opportunity for members to provide support to others when needed and receive help when they need it. As someone recently remarked, “It’s the best kind of insurance. We’re all just one ‘fall’ away from the receiving end.”
How much does it cost?
The annual membership fee varies from village to village. Fees for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Village are $675 for individuals; $975 for household. Membership fees make up about 1/3rd of the annual budget.
Can I buy a membership for my parents who live in your community?
Absolutely! What a wonderful “insurance” policy to be assured that your parents are able to remain in their own home, connected to friends and community.
I live in Palos Verdes Estates. We have PVE-Cares. Should I become a member?
Those who live in PVE are fortunate to have PVE-Cares provided by the city. The Village is a grassroots organization that will supplement the activities of PVE-Cares.
I’m a member of Peninsula Seniors, why should I become a member?
Peninsula Seniors is a key partner, working closely with the Village. The Village will add value, not duplicate the activities of Peninsula Seniors.
