About Town: Palos Verdes Peninsula Village’s Upside of Aging bridges generational gap

“Gone are the days of the stereotype of elderly people lounging in rocking chairs and complaining about ailments. They don’t have time. Today, a surprising number of people in their 80s and 90s are too busy traveling, writing books, playing instruments, gardening, golfing or doing yoga. Many also spend time volunteering. As a result, they are not only aging happier than in the past, but leading healthier and more productive lives. So it was no surprise that a full-capacity crowd attended “Upside of Aging,” presented by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Village at the Palos Verdes Golf Club Sept. 4. The subtitle of the free event was How to Live Forever: The Enduring Power of Connecting the Generations. It is also the title of a new book by aging expert Marc Freedman, who was the featured speaker.”
