WHO WE ARE

OUR MISSION
The Palos Verdes Peninsula Village is a community of older adults who wish to continue independent living. We offer social and educational activities that foster connections and engagement and provide services that facilitate remaining at home.
OUR ORGANIZATION
We are a non-profit 501(c3) organization serving the Palos Verdes Peninsula and nearby communities. We are a concept, not a place on the map. We are affiliated with the national Village Movement and the California Village Movement.
We opened our doors in January 2016 and have prospered ever since. At present we have about 115 members and approximately sixty service volunteers. Our members range in age from the early seventies to over a hundred years old.
Approximately 50% of our income is derived from member fees, the balance is made up of donations and grants.
Our staff consists of an Executive Director and a part-time Administrative Coordinator. We have a Board of Directors that deals with governance issues, an Operations Council and several working committees and task forces. Members and volunteers create and manage the many activities and programs. The staff coordinates all the different functions and every member is encouraged to contribute since we subscribe to the concept of “For us by us.”
OUR FOUNDERS
Sherry May was the inspiration, the guiding light and the force that made the Village possible. She and her husband Bill, sadly both deceased, contributed their talents and their energy that made their dream a reality.
