Local Scholars Lecture Series: How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Evolution

About this event

The topic will be How the Female Body Drove 200 MillionYears of Evolution (from The Five-Million Year Odyssey by Peter Bellwood.)  Our speaker will be Anne Ingalls.

Euripides made the statement that he’d “rather stand three times in battle than give birth once." Are you curious about how our species evolved to be the modern humans we are today and why many scholars believe that it was the requirements of the female body which drove that evolution forward toward through time? This presentation is aimed to help you understand these new theories. At the same time, it promises to provide a great deal of educational entertainment and intellectual stimulation.

Anne’s lecture is an outgrowth of a Winter/Spring Trimester 2024 Omnilore study discussion group centered around Peter Bellwood’s book, “The Five-Million Year Odyssey.”

Anne is a retired LA County District Attorney who prosecuted criminal cases of all varieties for over 30 years.  In her off time, she dives down  "rabbit holes" of curiosity, hikes, bikes, travels and gardens.

The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer period.
